Representation

The main characters:
The main characters of the film are two eighteen year old girls. They represent the youth of today due to their behaviour and image. Both of the girls are up with the latest trends in which consists of a creative style. They enjoy going out and having a good time including clubbing, which at the age of 18 they are legal to do so.

Behaviour:
Emily's promiscuous behaviour is due to her bad childhood memories. Her relationship with her mother is not great, her mother is careless and she doesn't give her the attention she needs. Therefore Emily's behaviour is quite rebellious due to craving attention which she doesn't get from her mother. There a lot of teenagers out there with repressed negative childhood memories in which may be quite promiscuous. Emily is a representation of this.

Best friend relationship:
Best friends are typically two individuals who do everything together, they trust each other highly and look out for each other. Emily and Frankie are best friends who spend a lot of time together, they certainly trust each other as Emily feels she can confide in Frankie when she finds out she is pregnant. Frankie helps Emily through the entire duration of the pregnancy and never leaves her side, this shows that they will do anything for each other. I think this is an accurate representation of youth as nearly everyone has a best friend in which is practically family to them. Emily doesn't have a reliable authority figure therefore she also looks up to her best friend, at times in life everyone feels they can confide in their best friend over a family member due to being the same age and having so much in common.
